Search for the Director of the Racial Justice and Equitable Futures Center

Cornell University invites applications and nominations for the position of Director, Racial Justice and Equitable Futures Center.

In July of 2020 President Pollack charged the Faculty Senate to develop a proposal for a center that further strengthens our research and education on systems and structures that perpetuate racism and inequality, and on policies and interventions that break that cycle. On April 30, 2021, the Faculty Senate passed Resolution 163 in support of the creation of a Center for Racial Justice and Equitable Futures, and the President and Provost began the process to establish the Center.

A search committee has been formed, and will be assisted by Isaacson Miller, an executive search firm. Although Isaacson Miller will assist in this process, nominations of potential candidates play an essential role. As such, if you would like to nominate an individual(s) who might merit consideration by the committee, please send names to rjefcenterdir@cornell.edu.

The Director will be responsible for further developing the capacity of the center to serve as a central node that connects and amplifies scholarship on racism, indigeneity, ethnicity, and bias currently distributed across a university-wide network of 25+ related units and beyond, to effect change off-campus through research and teaching on-campus.

The committee will work quickly to develop a position announcement, which, once finalized, will be posted below.

Any comments or questions relative to the search, can be sent to the confidential search mailbox: rjefcenterdir@cornell.edu.
