Help Shape Cornell’s Future

Please share your perspectives on the challenges and opportunities ahead for Cornell University, and higher education more broadly.

As one of many ways to hear from our community, we are experimenting with an AI interview tool in which you’ll have a short conversation to share your concerns, as well as your ideas for solutions. This is part of our exploration of what technological change may bring to the university, and how AI might (or might not) be used to engage with our community in the future.

We are soliciting input on:

  • Three key issue areas (Public Trust in Higher Education, University-Government Relations, and Technological Change and Artificial Intelligence)
  • Four core missions (Undergraduate Education, Graduate & Professional Education, Research & Scholarship, and Public Impact & Community Outreach).

The AI interviewer will ask open-ended questions to help you express your thoughts and ideas (rather than providing information itself). Your responses will be shared with the committee and may inform future planning and recommendations.

We are aware that AI systems require significant computing resources, and we recognize concerns about their carbon footprint, energy use, and overall environmental impact. We also understand that people have concerns about how information is shared and stored. If you prefer not to use the chatbot, you can share your views directly with the committee by emailing us at fau@cornell.edu. This AI interview tool is intended to supplement, rather than supplant, person-to-person conversations and we very much encourage active engagement on this topic with FAU committee members.

Reminder: This tool uses the GPT language model from OpenAI. Anything you enter may be stored on OpenAI’s servers and used for system improvement according to OpenAI’s policies. Do not include any private, confidential, or sensitive information in your responses.
